Natural Hair Growth Tips

We are told that our hair is our crown, and it’s expected that we would want to maintain and grow our crown to our satisfaction. The need to grow one’s natural hair has led to several people using different hair products to wash their hair, washing hair with rice water, applying onions juice on the hair overnight, and lots more. While most of these theories may work, there are simpler ways you can grow your natural hair without investing so much time and money.

First, you should know that growing your natural hair starts from your everyday routine and what you do to maintain the health of your hair. While you may think that applying a hair product should grow your hair in a flash; it doesn’t work that way. The process of growing long and beautiful natural hair starts with your daily routine and involves a lot of patience. With that being said, the following tips will help you in your journey to having longer and fuller hair growth. The tips shared here are from Jane Terry Brown, the Esthetician/Owner at SkincarebyJane in San Diego. Let’s get into it!

Maintain a healthy diet.

Your hair growth works the same way your body grows too. It has to be fed with the right nutrients to grow. What you eat is the foundation for growing healthy natural hair. When you eat foods like green vegetables, whole wheat bread, liver, papaya, and kiwi, you nourish your body with healthy vitamins and nutrients. These nutrients and vitamins get to your blood vessels, which nourish the cells in your hair bulb. So, take your mum’s advice, eat your veggies, and seek out foods with Vitamin A, C, and K.

Drink lots of water.

Drinking plenty of water doesn’t just help your body function properly; it also helps your hair grow. Water has tons of vitamins and nutrients that your body and hair need. Plus, natural hair always needs moisture, and you’ll be able to provide it with enough hydration by drinking lots of water.

Use natural hair growth products.

Many hair growth products out there contain harmful chemicals that shouldn’t be applied to natural hair. Not minding your curl type or hair porosity, you should go for a natural hair product that isn’t one-size-fits-all because hair growth varies from person to person. What works for Miss A may not work for Mr B. So, use natural hair products that are 100% natural, prevent hair breakage, and promise stronger and longer hair. You can use two natural hair growth ingredients to make an Ayurvedic remedy for hair loss: amla and neem. These A class ingredients can be turned into a paste to apply on your hair or eaten. It makes your hair grow, shine, and look voluminous.

Oil regularly.

After using a natural shampoo and conditioner on your hair, you should oil your hair regularly to moisturize it naturally. Jojoba oil, castor oil, and coconut oil are natural oils that reduce split ends and strengthen the hair from the roots to the tips. You should also consider doing a hot oil massage on your hair at least once a week.

Trim your hair regularly.

We know so many people dislike having their hair trimmed, they feel it reduces their hair growth, but that’s not the case. Getting your hair trimmed regularly gets rid of split, broken, or damaged ends. When you trim your hair at least every 10 to 12 weeks, it reduces hair breaks that can eventually travel up your hair.

Massage your scalp.

When you massage your scalp regularly, you increase blood circulation to the hair follicles and increase hair growth levels. Regularly stimulating the scalp is a quick way to see hair growth. A great way to do this is by gentling massaging your scalp when shampooing or conditioning.

De-stress

De-stress is an important activity that keeps you healthy and grows your natural hair. When you are stressed, you release toxins that are bad for your body and hair, leading to hair loss. So, it’s advised that you minimize your stress whenever possible. Indulge in a self-care routine that would benefit your hair.

Take your vitamins

Adding vitamins to your natural hair growth routine is needed for proper nourishment. However, you should not totally trust hair growth vitamin supplements like biotin because the body does not naturally produce such vitamins, and it doesn’t store them either. So, you need to take vitamins for hair, skin, and nails that contain all the minerals and vitamins your body can absorb for proper nourishment and hair growth.

Whether you have thick curly hair or straight natural hair, if you are looking to grow your hair, then the tips above should help you. However, you should know that hair growth is not an overnight process, so you should have patience when dealing with natural hair growth. You should undergo a self-care routine very often, visit SkinBarbyJane if you are in San Diego.
